It’s fair to say that the recruitment market has changed considerably since pre Covid, and the subsequent recovery of employment, large skill shortages and current economic uncertainty.

Increase to Agency Worker Pay Rates
Scattergoods Agency are pleased to announce a further increase in the pay rates of all Agency workers, these increases will take effect from Monday 3rd October 2022 for duties completed after this date.
This is the second rise this year and has given our hourly pay rates a further increase of a minimum of 19% in the 18 months since April 2021.
These new rates are paid to all workers as standard, there are no adjusted rates in our business.
These rates are constantly under review and we will continue to support our valued Agency workers at all times.

By increasing all our wages for the second time in 6 months and the third in 18 we hope that employees and temporary workers will be helped with the rapid rise in the cost of living, and earn a secure and fair living wage in the future.

Tom Walmsley – Recruitment Services Co-Ordinator
Tom has been working in hospitality for over 25 years. Specialising in contract catering, conference centres and golf clubs.
In recent years Tom has run his own Restaurant/Café business in Guildford.
Away from work Tom has a passion for golf, and is a member of a local club. He has also played a lot of courses in Scotland from St Andrews to Loch Lomond, sometimes successfully!
He has recently joined the Scattergoods Team and is looking forward to the challenge.

Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at or for Scattergoods Agency receive a minimum hourly wage of £10.00 in the UK or £11.05 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum hourly rate for over 23s, which currently stands at £9.90 per hour.
Scattergoods Agency is based in the South East of England, a region where 15% of all jobs pay less than the real Living Wage – around 572,000 jobs. Scattergoods Agency has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 250,000 people and put over £1.3 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

As a profession that has been one of the hardest hit by the Covid 19 Pandemic it is vital that we as a sector support those so badly affected by events outside their control.”
